Featured Student Artist: Kaia W.

ImageKaia W. is today’s featured student artist.  Kaia is a third grader who attends Manzanita Elementary School where she enjoys learning about art from her teacher there, Mr. Tiffany.  Kaia shares a love of watercolor art with her grandmother, Katherine.  Kaia and her grandmother both study art with the same private art instructor, Judy Christopher.

Kaia’s art piece, “Garden Rose”, was a Top Ten Winner in our Fall 2011 national art contest.  This means that Kaia’s art was in the top ten entries of all submitted pieces in her age group.  Kaia’s grandmother tells us,

“Kaia was photographing images in our yard in preparation for the contest, and decided on one of the roses from our garden.  She loves color, and creating abstract backgrounds.  Her art teacher, Judy Christopher, has shown her some creative ways to move color around for interesting backgrounds.  She employed these techniques for her piece.”

Congratulations, Kaia, on being selected as a Top Ten Winner!  You are a very talented artist and we are excited to see more of your work in the future.
