art-num-386957073asHaritha was a 6th grader studying art at Young at Art Studio in California when she was selected as a Top Ten Winner in our Spring 2014 national art contest. Her Top Ten art is titled “Young Hungry Princess” and is shown above. DSC_1393

Haritha is now in 7th grade and enjoys reading (especially science fiction), drawing, and painting. Her favorite medium to work with is charcoal because it is soft, easy to smudge, and great for portraits. “When I was first making my piece, I initially didn’t have an idea of entering it in the contest,” Haritha explains. “[I] put in at least 1-2 hours of work everyday for about a week.  I was very tired when I finished it, but all my hard work paid off in the end.”

In the future, Haritha hopes to become a graphic designer. To learn more about our national art contests, visit www.celebratingart.com.
